A ‘Fountain of Youth’ for Vintage Cars
At its original location in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, historic manufacturer of premium sports cars Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is also actively looking after its rich tradition. Whether you own an early 356, a legendary 911 Carrera RS 2.7, a mid-engine 914, one of the four-cylinder models 924, 944 or 968, an eight-cylinder 928 or a rare 959 sports car, as a Porsche Classic customer, you can be sure that experts who really know your model will take care of your car. Younger models such as the 964 and 993 are also welcome. Because there is something that all models share: the uniqueness and authenticity that distinguishes every Porsche. After all, 70 percent of all Porsche models ever built are still being driven today. Only counting 911s built between the model years 1964 and 1989, there are around 150,000 vehicles being driven worldwide.
The Porsche Classic workshop is the leading address for all vintage Porsche vehicles, whether it is for a simple oil change, accident repairs or for complete restoration. The customer can hand over his vehicle directly to a Porsche Classic service advisor. At the Porsche Classic workshop nearby Freiberg, where around 30 specialists will take care of the precious vehicles with competence and passion, around 250 vehicles are looked after every year, of which around 30 are big restoration projects.
Body construction and painting, as well as engine and transmission construction for Porsche classic cars are also at home in the approximately 1,500 square metre workshop. Porsche’s own upholstery department is also on site. In the case of a complete restoration, the body will also undergo a cathodic dip coating bath, which guaran tees the best possible corrosion protection. Porsche Classic also has access to original straighte ning tools, gauges and data sheets. The customer is expressly invited to visit the Porsche Classic workshop while work is being carried out on his vehicle, and to take the opportunity to evaluate the progress and further tasks to be carried out together with our experts.
If the car is being completely renovated, it will be restored to brand new technical condition, but its original character will remain. After work is completed, the customer receives detailed documentation with comprehensive visual material and an engraved plaque, which proves the genuine workshop restoration by Porsche Classic with the chassis number and signature.
Along with repairs, maintenance and restoration, Porsche Classic of course also provides spare parts worldwide to Porsche Centres. Over 35,000 Genuine Parts are in the warehouse ready to be shipped. Around 150 parts, which were no longer available until recently, are reissued annually. Genuine Parts are ordered from former standard suppliers where possible or from new specialist suppliers. When parts are newly manufactured, they are based on original workshop documentation, such as original drawings and detailed descriptions of parts. An impressive warehouse of sample parts is also available. This guarantees that the high technical and safety standards of Porsche are always met. As well as that, Porsche Classic also takes care of technical literature. Around 800 driver’s manuals, workshop manuals and operating instructions are available.
